Will the Catsurveys Team be ‘On PAR’?

As part of Catsurveys’ growing Health, Safety and Well-being (HSW) initiatives, we are introducing a new challenge to our team known as the ‘Catsurveys HSW Golf Challenge’.

This new initiative will provide an interactive platform to promote great Health, Safety and Well-being observations about our team members as well as reporting concerns and near misses within the business.

What does the challenge involve?

We will start a fictitious round of golf this month which has a total of 72 shots to be taken. We would need 72 Positive Action Reports to be ‘On PAR’ (see what we did there?) and complete the Catsurveys HSW Golf Challenge.

Each Positive Action Report will be recorded by the SHEQ Team and disseminated throughout the Catsurveys Team for awareness and action as well as updating our progress around the Golf Challenge.

What is the aim?

“I would like for the team to challenge their behaviours on how and why we report what is more commonly known as ‘Near Misses’” explains Nick Spenceley, Responsible Business Manager.

“We all understand the importance for reporting these types of incidents, but our wish is to heighten our awareness on the positive effect this reporting has on the team as a whole.”

The aims of this initiative are to:

  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for all.
  • Recognise our Team members for their Health, Safety and Well-being practices.
  • Provide Mates in Mind financial support whilst achieving our own HSW Challenge.

Our dedication to Mental Health and Well-being

As part of our mission to promote positive mental health discussions within the workplace, we are aligning this ‘golf’ challenge with a further incentive for our staff. Each challenge will have 18 holes, and if those 18 holes are successfully completed, we will donate £20 to Mates in Mind.

There will be a total of 72 holes in the Catsurveys HSW Golf Challenge, so if all these holes are successfully completed that will result in a £360 total donation to Mates in Mind!

We have also advised that there are no minimum time constraints on this challenge. Therefore, if the team completes the 72 holes in less than 12 months, we will start the challenge all over again and the team will be able to raise more funds to be donated!

Who are Mates in Mind?

Mates in Mind are a charity that aims to raise awareness, address the stigma of poor mental health and improve positive mental well-being in the UK construction industry. It is led by and for the industry in partnership with the Health in Construction Leadership Group and British Safety Council, as well as with other leading organisations and charities such as Mind, Samaritans and Mental Health First Aid England.

Their goal is to reach 100,000 workers in its first year and by 2025 to have reached 75% of the construction industry. Every person within the construction industry that supports Mates in Mind brings them one step closer to achieving this ambitious target.

Ready, set, GO!

The challenge has official started this month and we have already received some fantastic feedback from our team. We will be sure to keep you updated on social media and our blog as to how the team are progressing over the remainder of 2019! Will they be ‘On PAR’?
