It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2019 (NAW2019) from 4th to 8th March and to celebrate this annual event we are dedicating our blog to education and development for the entirety of March!
This is the 12th annual National Apprenticeship Week, and the theme for this year’s event is ‘Blaze a Trail’. The inspiration behind this is to represent the work of apprentices up and down the country that are ‘blazing a trail’ into a new career.
National Apprenticeship Week presents a great opportunity to highlight the fantastic opportunities and benefits that an apprenticeship brings to employers, individuals, local communities and the economy.
The aim of NAW2019 is to change the perceptions that people may have on what an apprenticeship is. They want to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to take up an apprenticeship and to show them that the sky is the limit!
As employers and businesses across the country celebrate NAW2019 next week, it shows that there are several high-quality apprenticeship opportunities available at all levels, in a huge variety of sectors. You can follow all the NAW action on social media with the hashtags #BlazeATrail and #NAW2019!

NAW is coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service. The purpose of NAW is not only to encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career, but to spread awareness of the fantastic roles that are available.
National Apprenticeship Week 2018 was record-breaking, with 780 events taking place across England. They smashed their target of delivering a ‘10,000 talks movement’ - #10kTalks - to inspire the next generation of apprentices, reaching over 33,500 people in over 300 schools across the country!
A further 130 schools hosted teacher-to-teacher talks, reaching an additional 2,300 adults, to support them to talk to their students about apprenticeships. This truly shows the impact that NAW has all over England and their achievement in spreading awareness.
