We welcomed Chris Ibbotson to the Catsurveys team on Monday 19th November. Based in the Head Office in Brentwood, Chris is joining us as a Project Manager. Jodi Turpin, Media and Marketing Officer, interviewed Chris to learn a little bit more about him.
Jodi: Welcome to Catsurveys Chris! I hope you are enjoying your time with us so far. How have your first couple of weeks at Catsurveys been?
Chris:The team have been very welcoming, and I’ve started to get involved with Clancy Docrwa Projects, which is a new client for me. I’m looking forward to delivering projects and increasing my workload. I’ve also been involved with the cable design and NERS accreditation development, so I feel like I’ve been included in company developments, which has been good.
J: Sounds like you’ve got stuck in already! What was your previous role before joining us?
C: I was the head of underground cable dept at LSTC for the past 2 years and previous to that I was Director of Ibbostone Ltd for 5 years.
J: And looking forward, what is your target over the next 12 months?
C: To be involved in as many schemes as possible and prove my worth to the company. I’d like to be valued as a company asset and seen in a positive way.
J: Sounds like a fantastic target Chris. How do you believe Catsurveys is different to other companies you’ve worked for?
C: The company ethos around the team and employees is refreshing. It’s good to be valued as an asset. The GPR output is also something I’ve not seen delivered in such high details – it’s incredible!
J: We are really proud of the quality of GPR surveys we produce, so it’s great to have that kind of feedback from a new employee! If you could pick one theme for Catsurveys to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?
C: The GPR deliverable and surveying standards.
J: Sounds like a bestseller! What hobby would you get into if time and money weren't an issue?
C: Track racing Lamborghini’s.
J: An adrenaline junky I’m guessing? What accomplishment are you most proud of?
C: Buying a property in London and raising my dogs.
J: Definitely a great achievement and something to be proud of – congratulations! However, we are more ‘cat’ people here at ‘Catsurveys’. If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
C: Lamborghini’s as company cars as standard!
J: I get the feeling you are Lamborghini fan Chris – maybe we will suggest that one to Jani during the Monthly Meeting! What do you wish you could tell yourself 10 years ago?
C: Good times and bad times come and go. Just keep your head down and keep working.
J: Wise words! Now for the final, but most important question… have you played ping pong yet?
C: Yes, very badly! I need more practice!
J: Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of time to practice! Thank you for sitting down with me Chris, it was great to get to know you a bit more.
