In our industry, road safety plays a very big part. The whole Catsurveys team use cars and vans to get to and from work, it is important that we are reminded of the dangers we and others face on the road.
Road Safety Week is the biggest road safety event in the UK which is organised by the road safety charity Brake every year. The aim of Road Safety Week is to inspire thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages. It also allows professionals working in road safety to boost awareness of the risks involved whilst working on the road.
Every year a different theme for the Week is chosen, and this year’s theme is: Speed Down, Save Lives.
With traffic management systems being used whilst our site teams are carrying out surveys, the Catsurveys staff are suitably trained and well versed on the risks and dangers of working on the Highways. It is for this reason that our teams carry out a detailed risk assessment prior to starting operation and report near misses whenever and if they ever occur. Safety, after all, is our number one priority, and Road Safety Week reinforces this commitment.
Safety is an integral part of every decision that we make at Catsurveys and by doing so ensures that a positive health and safety culture is maintained. Van Excellence, along with its guidance, is a great platform for us to enhance our operational standards and increase safety for our drivers and other road users.
Catsurveys proudly hold both the Van Excellence and TfL Accreditation’s together. These accreditations have improved our work-related driving procedures and policies, and provide a safer working environment for all our team with the implementation of additional policies.
We first achieved Van Excellence Accreditation in 2014, and benefits were seen immediately. These included drastically reduced RTC’s from the guidance and training received, reduced insurance claims, better renewal rates along with minimised off the road time. Our drivers are now better trained, vehicles are well maintained and our business is reaping the benefits.
We encourage all fleets to review the Van Excellence guidance and become accredited. It has been beneficial for our team and business, and we are proud to be able to provide the safest possible environment for our team and other road users.
We ensure that that training, instruction and supervision of all our teams is of the highest calibre which allows us to complete our operations to the best quality and in the safest manner practicable. Catsurveys never compromise in the technological advances in the equipment we provide our teams and believe they are the best equipped within our industry.
As it is Road Safety Week, Catsurveys are urging everyone to ‘Make the Brake Pledge!’ to drive safer and you can sign the pledge by clicking here. Stay safe!
