Catsurveys receives RoSPA Gold Award for health and safety achievements

We are excited to announce the fantastic news that Catsurveys has been awarded a RoSPA Gold for our Health and Safety management systems.

We are celebrating landing this internationally-recognised award for demonstrating our high health and safety standards. Catsurveys have held the RoSPA Silver award since 2018, so achieving the Gold award is a fantastic achievement for us and we are proud to gain this recognition for our continuous effort in health and safety at work.

Catherine Brewster, SHEQ Advisor at Catsurveys, worked on the award submission which ultimately got us to Gold!

“Since achieving Silver in 2018 and 2019, we have had our eyes set on the Gold award. Even though Silver is a fantastic achievement, being awarded with Gold demonstrates the fact that we are continually improving our health, safety and wellbeing initiatives and management systems at Catsurveys. It’s great for the Catsurveys team to receive this recognition for all of our hard work!” Catherine Brewster, SHEQ Advisor

Some of the most notable actions that were highlighted as integral to achieving the Gold award included:

  • The increase in safety training that we provided for our team
  • The delivery of our 2019 objective to increase our Positive Action Reports from 2018 by 25%. We are proud to say we went above and beyond on this one and achieved an impressive increase of 543%! (Read more here).
  • The level of dedication on providing for our staff, particularly based on their personal Occupational Health assessments.

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards. We will be presented with the award during a ceremony at ExCeL, London on Tuesday 8th September 2020.

What is the RoSPA Awards scheme?

The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety.

“RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere. Currently, around 7million people are directly impacted by the RoSPA Awards, but the scheme’s influence is even wider.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards, orders of distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.

Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.

There are specialist awards for health at work, environmental management, safety delivered outside of the workplace, and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international organisation, new entry, workforce involvement, leisure organisation, and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA’s top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy.
