The winners of the CN Talent Awards 2019 have been crowned!

Michelle Ball was announced as the deserving winner of the HR Star of the Year category at the 2019 Construction News Talent Awards.

In a prestigious ceremony held at City Central at the HAC on Wednesday 20th November, organisations from across the construction industry were honoured across 17 categories in a night of recognition.

The awards celebrate the people striving to make construction a more inclusive industry, as well as the businesses doing outstanding work to improve the construction industry’s reputation and employment practices.

Impressing the judges

Following a rigorous judging process conducted by HR and talent experts from inside and outside the industry, Michelle emerged as the winner of HR Star of the Year. The award submission included details of Michelle's work with BITC, her Working Away Credit system, her support of the 'Ban the Box' initiative and her passion for giving back to the community through her work with local Pupil Referral Units.

The judges praised Michelle for her work on this wide range of initiatives, that demonstrate both workplace and wider community support.

“This included a mental well-being initiative for those working away from home that was just one of the many factors that make this employee a one of kind. This is an individual who has gone above and beyond industry standards to put in measures on inclusivity awareness and takes practical steps to look beyond potential employees’ backgrounds that might otherwise stand against them."

We are proud to have Michelle as our HR Manager at Catsurveys, and it’s clear that the CN Talent Awards judges saw Michelle’s passion for her job.

Whether promoting physical and mental health, improving diversity and inclusion, closing unfair pay gaps, or becoming more socially responsible across the board, our winners are blazing trails that many others will follow.

Our award winners are not only making life better for those currently working in the sector, they are also making construction a more attractive career option for the next generation of professionals. We salute our winners tonight and thank them for their insight and leadership.
